Here at Sustain Health, we absolutely love Zack George, so when the UK’s Fittest Man 2020 had an injury that ruled him out of the CrossFit Championships for most of the 2021 CrossFit Games, we were ecstatic to hear that he finished 2nd in the Madrid CrossFit Championship this weekend, Friday, October 15th – Sunday, October 17th, 2021.
Zack’s performance at the Madrid CrossFit Championship solidifies his return to elite competition against a field of veteran CrossFit Games athletes, including Roman Khrenikov (1st), Kristof Horvath, Elliot Simmonds and Giorgios Karavis.
Zack’s competitive season for the 2021 Games was cut short by an aggravated hip injury, which forced him to withdraw from competition for an extended period and develop a comprehensive movement optimisation protocol.
Zack’s next competition will be at the Dubai CrossFit Championships in December, where he will compete for one of the largest prize purses in the sport.
At the competition over the weekend, Zack secured 6 top 10 finishes out of 8 events.

About Zack: Zack George (aka ‘Silverback’) is one of the world’s top CrossFit athletes, a fitness influencer and officially the UK’s Fittest Man 2020.
Born and raised in Leicester UK, Zack George’s story is one of dramatic change, resilience and hard work.
As a child and early teenager, Zack was severely overweight and deeply unhappy in his body. It was his father’s offer of a PlayStation to lose some weight that became the catalyst for change in Zack’s life.
After realising what he could achieve with hard work and determination, Zack put his mind to accomplishing greater challenges by taking up a variety of sports and as a teenager represented Leicestershire as a county athlete in rugby, squash and table tennis.
In 2013, Zack came across a YouTube video documenting the 2013 CrossFit Games and from that moment on, set himself the goal of making it as an individual athlete to the CrossFit Games.
Zack qualified for the European CrossFit Regionals in 2018 and achieved first place in the UK CrossFit Open 2020, earning himself a place at the CrossFit Games 2020.
However, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Zack’s place at the CrossFit Games 2020 was rescinded, meaning he had to battle once again to earn his right to attend the CrossFit Games in 2021.
In April 2021, Zack suffered a season-ending hip injury, preventing him from competing in the elite competition season for 2021.
Not one to let adversity hold him back, Zack has released his first book ‘Start Where Other Stop‘ in May 2021 and is documenting his recovery and work with other inspiring individuals through his new YouTube vlog, The Silverback Series. Zack recently returned to the competition floor, winning the NFG FitFest against respected UK CrossFit athletes Reggie Fasa and Dan Tai.
Next up Zack heads to the Dubai CrossFit Championships to compete against the world’s top athletes for one of the largest prize purses in the sport.
