Vilnius Stuns Europe As It’s Crowned European Hospitality City 2025

Vilnius Light Festival Lithuania

Vilnius has pulled off a victory worthy of a standing ovation, being named European Hospitality City 2025—and if you’ve ever wandered its cobbled old town or been handed a coffee by someone who insists on perfecting the foam by hand, you’ll know Vilnius didn’t win this by accident.

The announcement rolled out in suitably regal fashion at a gala in the Grand Hotel, right in the heart of Vilnius, where Europe’s hospitality heavyweights traded handshakes, applause, and the occasional raised eyebrow at the city that keeps punching above its weight.

“Our hospitality ecosystem, which consists not only of top-class hotels but also every service provider in Vilnius, has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. This recognition is an important sign to the international community that Vilnius is not only an authentic historical city, but also a dynamic European capital with a unique culture of hospitality,” said Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas.

For a place once known mainly for baroque architecture and a fiercely proud past, Vilnius has started writing a new chapter—one the European Hotel Awards organisers were only too happy to spotlight. As they put it, “beyond its architectural beauty and heritage, Vilnius represents a new narrative for Europe – a capital where tradition and innovation coexist naturally. This award, therefore, carries both a symbolic and supportive dimension: a gesture of recognition and encouragement, expressing our wish to see Vilnius and Lithuania continue to flourish as shining examples of authentic European hospitality.”

A Big Night for Lithuania’s Finest

Alongside the citywide triumph, four standout figures from the Vilnius hospitality scene took home top honours:

  • Radisson Collection Astorija – voted 2025 Hotel of the Year in Lithuania
  • Donatas Šatkauskas, head chef at Telegrafas – crowned Chef of the Year
  • Sigita Rudzevičiėnė, Grand Hotel Vilnius – Curio Collection by Hilton – named Hotel Director of the Year
  • Evalda Šiškauskienė, President of the Lithuanian Hotels and Restaurants Association – honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award

If you were looking for proof that hospitality in Vilnius is firing on all cylinders, this list reads like a leaderboard.

A City on the Rise

What’s happening in Vilnius isn’t a fluke—it’s momentum. The Lithuanian capital is quickly becoming a meeting point for the people shaping the future of travel, service, and culinary culture.

This year alone, Vilnius hosted the Future Hospitality & Tourism Forum, and the Baltic Gastro Summit 2025 kicked off an annual tradition in the city. And next year, the capital will welcome the General Assembly of HOTREC, Europe’s umbrella organisation for the hospitality sector.

That’s not luck. That’s a city making itself impossible to ignore.

A Firm Place on the European Travel Map

Stack these honours together and the picture is clear: Vilnius is stepping forward as one of Europe’s standout destinations for professionals, organisers, and travellers who want authenticity without compromising on quality.

Interest is rising. Bookings are rising. And the city’s reputation is rising right along with them.

It’s a well-earned victory lap—and knowing Vilnius, the best chapters are still ahead.
