Nike Structure Plus: The Stability Shoe That Finally Feels Fun

The Nike Structure Plus running shoe lands with the kind of confidence runners usually reserve for a perfectly-timed negative split. Mention Nike Structure Plus in any running circle over the coming weeks and you’ll hear the same reaction: finally, a stability shoe that doesn’t feel like homework.

Nike has taken the guardrails off the traditional stability trainer and replaced them with something far more energising — the bounce of super foam and the comfort of a Sunday long run done right. It’s a bold step forward, wrapped in a retro look that gives more than a nod to the brand’s running heritage.

This new silhouette drops ZoomX and ReactX cushioning into Nike’s stability roster for the first time, a pairing that offers the pop of a racing shoe with the dependable support everyday runners actually need.

As Ashley Campbell, Expert Product Line Manager for Nike Running Footwear, puts it: “We saw an opportunity to bring more cushioning and a more fun, energetic ride to stability shoes. That’s where the ‘Plus’ really comes in… the Structure Plus delivers a softer, more responsive ride while maintaining the support runners expect.”

Nike didn’t get here by guesswork. The design team studied hundreds of elite and everyday runners, pulling apart movement patterns to engineer a shoe that can take a battering without feeling like one. The result is a stability model built for runners who want structure, cushioning, and that unmistakable super-foam spring underfoot.

Support without the Sledgehammer

The Structure Plus keeps Nike’s midfoot support system — first introduced in the Structure 26 — and wraps it around the medial arch and lateral heel. Instead of the old-school approach of slapping firmer posts under your arch, this system works with your stride, not against it. Pair that with a ZoomX midsole encased in a ReactX carrier, and you’ve got cushioning tuned to reduce impact without robbing you of momentum.

Nike athlete Karissa Schweizer, U.S. champion over 10,000 metres, doesn’t mince her words: “The Structure Plus feels more fun because it’s lighter and more cushioned than what I’m used to while still bringing that reliable, perfect mix of stability and responsiveness… this one feels like something I really want to run in.”

It’s a far cry from the stability tanks of old — and that’s exactly the point.

Higher, Wider, Softer — And Still Stable

The shoe stacks up at 32 mm in the forefoot and 42 mm in the heel, the tallest numbers ever seen in the Structure franchise. A wider midfoot platform keeps things steady while structural overlays lock the foot down without strangling it. The engineered mesh upper adds breathability where you need it and support where you’re most likely to lose it. The plush collar and tongue give it that easy-on, easy-off comfort runners rely on when heading out the door before sunrise.

Underneath, high-abrasion rubber handles the heel strikes, while blown rubber brings softness and grip to the forefoot. The outsoles look ready for winter pavements, spring showers and every training block in between.

Colourways with Personality

Nike isn’t shy about dressing it up either. The Structure Plus arrives with a mix of classic and loud colour schemes — everything from minimal black-and-white to sunset gradients and lime green that practically dares you not to run fast.

Two Structures, Two Attitudes

The Nike Structure Plus slots into the brand’s simplified running lineup alongside the Structure 26, Pegasus and Vomero. Think of it as stability with a turbo button. The Structure 26 remains the steady workhorse with a firmer feel, while the Plus offers more rebound, more softness and a livelier sensation underfoot.

Nike athlete Cooper Teare sums up the relationship neatly: “The Structure Plus works not in contrast to the Structure 26, but in conjunction — building on the silhouette with a bit more foam to keep you from pounding the pavement.”

A Franchise Marching Into a New Era

Nike’s broader lineup now gives runners a clear choice: Pegasus for responsive versatility, Vomero for max comfort, and the Structure franchise for dependable stability — with the Plus bringing that stability into a modern super-foam era.

The whole setup reflects Nike’s long-running mantra: built by runners, for runners. The Structure Plus is a reminder that even stability shoes can evolve without losing their purpose.

Launch Details

The Nike Structure Plus lands exclusively at running speciality stores worldwide on January 8, 2026, before rolling out to nike.com and selected retailers on February 5.

If the early athlete feedback is a sign of things to come, stability runners are about to step into something that feels a lot less like compromise — and a lot more like progress.
