London’s Gymbox has never been one to follow the crowd, and its latest class — Bloody Good Workout — might be its most progressive move yet. Launching this November in partnership with WUKA and women’s health specialists The Well HQ, the new session invites members to train with their menstrual cycle instead of battling through it.
For years, women have been told to ignore how their hormones affect performance. Gymbox is taking the opposite approach. Research shows more than half of women struggle to stick to a routine during their period, with cramps, fatigue and fear of leaking topping the list of reasons they skip the gym.
This class tackles all of that head-on. Designed around three training styles that match the different phases of a woman’s cycle, it gives members the freedom to work with their energy, not against it. Whether you’re sluggish in the luteal phase, fiery in the follicular one or deep in PMS territory, there’s a version that fits.
“At Gymbox, we believe empowerment starts with education,” says Hannah Curtis-Nunn, Product Director at Urban Gym Group. “Women shouldn’t have to choose between listening to their bodies and pushing their limits – and Bloody Good Workout makes that possible.
This class is about giving women the knowledge, tools and confidence to train in sync with their cycle, not in spite of it. It’s bold, it’s science-backed, and it’s a big step forward for how the fitness industry supports women.”
Each class starts with an educational talk from The Well HQ team, who explain how the menstrual cycle affects body and mind. Then it’s time to choose a workout:
- Flow Strength – slow, Pilates-inspired movement focused on alignment and control.
- Tension & Tempo – endurance-building strength work for steady energy days.
- Dynamic Power – fast, high-intensity training for when you’re feeling unstoppable.
It finishes with a group reflection, encouraging women to talk openly about how they feel, both physically and mentally.

“Understanding your menstrual cycle is a game-changer for both physical and mental performance,” adds Baz Moffat, Co-founder of The Well HQ. “The Bloody Good Workout gives women permission to listen to their bodies, train smarter, and feel stronger through every phase of their cycle.”
Backing the concept is WUKA, known for its leak-proof period underwear — because confidence counts when you’re moving.
“At WUKA, we’ve always believed that your period should never hold you back from doing what you love,” says Ruby Raut, Founder of WUKA. “Partnering with Gymbox and The Well HQ for the Bloody Good Workout is all about breaking taboos and helping women feel confident, supported, and unstoppable with leak-proof technology they can trust and a community that moves together.”
The Bloody Good Workout is already running at three Gymbox locations — Farringdon, Elephant & Castle, and Finsbury Park — with plans to expand further across London.
This isn’t a gimmick; it’s a reset in how women are treated in the gym. Gymbox has taken something most people still tiptoe around and turned it into a conversation about strength, knowledge, and real self-awareness.
